- Broadcast support and online coverage.
- International subsea cable links (SAT3, SAFE, WACS, EASSy).
Recognition & Scale
FIFA officials recognised Telkom as an "expert" with a proven track record essential for developing and supporting the event's fixed-line networks. Telkom was one of the largest and most strategically important South African service companies involved in the operations.
The project involved:
- Coordinating nationwide connectivity for 10 stadiums and international broadcast links to ensure global broadcast success to billions of viewers.
- Managing massive stakeholder alignment (government, broadcasters, sponsors, vendors) under extreme deadlines and zero tolerance for failure.
- Delivering a reliable, high-capacity network for millions of spectators, media, and international broadcasters – a landmark achievement in African telecom infrastructure.
